Inspired by Minnesota
In the midst of a tumultuous situation in Minneapolis during the winter of '26, a symbol rose from the ice and snow combining the state bird and a rebel motif from common sci-fi culture. It was the REBEL LOON.
It represented solidarity amongst Minnesotans and a united rebellion against the hate and injustice they were witnessing on their streets. This symbol quickly spread across the world as a symbol of unity with Minnesota.
The Bird Rebels are a 50 state (+ territories) collection of images inspired by the original loon emblem. They represent state pride, as well as being part of something bigger: a united flock of rebels that refuse to let hate take flight in any corner of America. They stand tall and proud, looking to the right, wings spread wide and ready to take flight. Ready to whistle and chirp, knowing that there is strength in numbers

I made each emblem by hand, with love, using free software. I am not a professional graphic artist but was inspired to jump in when I saw a way to lift spirits and contribute to a united rebellion against the hate and injustice that
I see unfolding daily back home.
